Fort Smith, AR – October 24, 2018 – 1 year ago, Fort Smith began a partnership with Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA), a leading home service repair plan provider. Through the partnership, Fort Smith residents have the option to sign up for service plans to protect against the high cost of emergency repairs TO THEIR EXTERIOR WATER AND SEWER SERVICE LINES, AS WELL AS INTERIOR PLUMBING AND DRAINAGE SYSTEMS, ON THEIR PROPERTIES.
Since the partnership began in July, 2017, 1,391 Fort Smith residents have signed up for an optional SLWA service plan, with many signing up for multiple plans. Over the past year, SLWA helped over 51 Fort Smith residents save $38,050 in repair expenses all completed with the help of qualified, local contractors.
“We entered into this partnership to help protect our customers who might not be aware that they are responsible for the maintenance and repair of utility service lines on their property,” said Joshua Robertson, Deputy Director Utility Business Administration. “More homeowners in the area are discovering that their exterior pipes must be repaired or replaced. SLWA not only works to educate the residents, but also provides a solution.”
“When a homeowner’s water line breaks or sewer line becomes blocked, it can be an overwhelming situation. All of a sudden, you’re looking at hundreds or even thousands of dollars for a problem you probably didn’t even know existed the day before,” said John Kitzie, CEO of HomeServe USA. “While we can’t prevent pipes from breaking or being blocked, HomeServe is there to relieve City of Fort Smith, AR customers of the stress of finding and scheduling a qualified contractor and the cost of completing the repair. We’re proud to offer this service to the City of Fort Smith, AR homeowner community.”
