CUSTOMER ALERT: Disconnects for Non-Payment Resume March 2021

The City of Fort Smith Utility Department previously suspended disconnecting customer’s water services for nonpayment during the pandemic.   On March 30, 2021, the City’s Utility Department will reinstate water disconnections for nonpayment (please see FORT SMITH MUNICIPAL CODE Sec. 25-45. – Disconnection for nonpayment).  The City has notified delinquent customers through direct mail in December 2020 and February 2021 and is encouraging them to bring their past due accounts current before March 30, 2021.

To help residential customers bring their delinquent accounts up to date, the City is offering a temporary payment plan program.  This program applies only to customers with at least two unpaid bills between January 1, 2019, and March 10, 2021. Bills with a due date after March 11, 2021, are not eligible for the temporary payment plan. All charges made after March 11, 2021, must be paid on time, including late fees.  Any customers who entered into a payment plan in 2020 will need to begin regular monthly payments, or they will also be subject to disconnection.

Customers should refer to the most recent billing statement for any outstanding amount due. Please direct questions about account balances and payments to:
