All utility customers will receive an insert included with their September billing statements regarding the reinstatement of late fees and disconnects.
The City of Fort Smith and the Utility Department were pleased to be able to suspend late fees and disconnects due to non-payment while we worked on our internal processes with the new billing system. We appreciate the patience shown while we operated through our challenges.
Late fees will be reinstated beginning October 1, 2019.
Disconnects for non-payment will be reinstated beginning in February 2020.
Customers with delinquent accounts are encouraged to bring their accounts up to date before the deadline in order to avoid any penalties.
